Lucia De Fatima as an artist.

Lucia De Fatima Almeida was born in Angola, Africa but immigrated from the Azores with her family to Toronto Canada as a child. She has a live in warehouse space in the “Art & Design “ district, where she has a workshop on the second floor, and an open concept main floor where she shows her jewellery, artwork, teaches wirework and has live music events. She has hosted some of Canada’s top musicians and has played as a percussionist in various bands along the way. She produced two albums of music for her mentor Jim Heineman, with one being nominated for an International Independent Music Award for best jazz song in 2011. Lucia raised a daughter in rural Ontario and had a workshop in Bethany, Ontario for over 20 years, but is now full time in Toronto.

Lucia is mainly a self-taught artist and was heavily influenced by her parents who worked with their hands. Her father was a master carpenter, and her mother was a seamstress. She began selling her jewellery in 1988 under the business name The Tima Collection. She supplied over 50 galleries and shops across Canada, including the McMichael Art Gallery and Ontario Art Gallery gift shops as well as The Rooms Museum gift shops in Newfoundland to name a few. She was commissioned by the Royal Canadian Mint to create a copper penny jewellery line in 2019. Lucia has shown and sold in high quality juried shows across Canada. She changed her business name to Lucia De Fatima Arts in 2022 to concentrate on more artwork. She has always specialized in copper and has also made and sold copper sheet chemical etchings and wire copper sculpture. She also does watercolours, pencil drawings and acrylic paintings and has used her images in her jewellery for a dramatic original look.

Lucia also completed a transpersonal therapy course in 1999 and has incorporated her interest in healing modalities, through symbolism and healing stones. She uses her art as a meditation to imbue her work with the healing Love of the Divine Mother. She believes art objects can transmit energy and intention. The feedback Lucia receives most often is how “refreshingly different” her work is. Her mission is to create pieces with the intention of aiding in times of transformation and healing. She wants her work to remind people of their own divinity and ability to heal themselves through selfcare and loving intention.
